My dog loves this place
The staff are mostly nice. They have almost everything I needed for my puppy
I said I’d take them home and give them proper care with a discount. He said no. I went back in there a few days later and sure enough they are on sale and the sick one is gone. I wonder if they put it down.
This place is hit or miss as far as helpfulness from staff. Sometimes there are multiple people in each section. Sometimes there is only 4 people in the entire store. Unless you know exactly what you are looking for, you may have to wait a very long time. Aquarium section is sometimes disappointing. Either there is a lack of stock or the only product available is the most expensive and largest option.

I bought a crested gecko here 3 weeks ago. We did everything right and despite our best efforts it died. He never ate from the second he was brought home and he wasn't very active. I suspect he was sick when we bought him. Although I didn't get any advice from the store I didn't mind since my sister in law has raised many reptiles, including geckos and taught us how to handle him, what to feed him, and how to house him. For $60 I would think they would of at least given us some advice, but they just plopped the gecko in a box and sent me on my way without any word. As I don't have the receipt, or the body, I'm not going to bother getting a refund. I'm just so disappointed and my son was devastated.
One if the water dragons had rubbed his nose off- he was thrashing around the cage rubbing the blood and pus stump along the glass frantically. Lack of stimulation and good care, poor thing. I got the attention of the young careless manager and he just shrugged, “Happens all the time.”
Someone from Petco saw this review and contacted me. Within a few days we had a replacement gecko who is still alive and well months later. I am very happy with how the situation was handled so I changed my review from 1 star to 5 stars. Excellent and quick follow up without me prompting.
