I believe, if a Mediterranean place which can get their hummus and shawarma right - you can be rest assured they know what they are doing. And Kibberia does them both amazingly well! The lamp shawarma was juicy and delicious. And the hummus just the perfect texture - if you want to indulge you may want to add a bit more olive oil, but as it is: it's brilliant. Definitely going back there next time I'm at Danbury.
Everything I've had there is great. Good deserts and great atmosphere. I think their hours are recently updated to be open much later in the week which is fantastic. I can't give it higher stars.
My wife and I have this as a favorite stop on our way to and from our home in Jersey to Boston. The kibbie soup and kibbie poppers are addictive. It's nothing fancy, pretty much cafeteria style, which is perfect for a quick meal and conversation.
The place is large, bright, clean..cafeteria-style. The employees are very friendly. Obviously this is a well loved spot to eat casual food. The kibbe are not authentic. Not even close to a true Lebanese Kibbe. I guess it was fine-tuned to the local tastes - which is what a successful business has to do. I did not try other offerings, so my food comment is strictly limited to kibbe, which I have been buying weekly in Clifton and Patterson NJ at two different Lebanese restaurants. I was hoping not to have drive so far... And was so thrilled to find the Kibberia. Alas... to get the authentic kibbe I still have to travel to NJ! But by all means try the Kibberia, it is very loved by many.
A follow-up: Kibberia has been a go-to place for us on trips to and from Boston. Our last visit was disappointing: they no longer have kibbie soup, my favorite, my wife's falafel salad was not as finely prepared as on previous visits. The menu now features Vegan and Gluten Free items, which is fine, but was lacking in some of the Lebanese items that made Kibberia special. We hope this is just a temporary situation.
We love Kibberia! Their food is delicious and if you need an event catered, I would highly recommend them. Great prices, attentive and thoughtful service, and everyone loved the food options (I was able to order everything vegan, too, even down to the baklavas for desserts, which was pretty amazing!!!!). This is a wonderful, family-run business.
