I'm giving out one star because i can't give less than that. For some reason the Danbury tax collector overcharged me and i didn't find out until the following year when it was time to pay my taxes again.I had overpaid the city hall $100.00!!! but the tax collector won't give me the credit back unless i present my receipt. I don't have the receipt anymore because it has passed one year so I presented to them my license and house bills with my name on it but they won't give me my money back they insist on the receipt. This tax collectors are a completely rip off it is unbelievable beware people before you pay your taxes and don't overpay it otherwise you won't get your money back and you won't find out until next year that you had overpaid them. (Never got my $100.00 credit back because I lost the receipt) After one year I don't keep receipts anymore >:/

The most lazy office place.
I wish I could give no stars. Incompetent and lazy. They have made numerous mistakes on my tax bills, they don't update their records in a timely fashion, but if you are even a moment late they are sending you collection notices. Took them months to fix their mistakes and then they make excuses for the mistakes.
These guys are completely incompetent. They were sending me tax bills to my Danville address long after I moved out of town. In their mind they're in the 3rd Reich where I should have gotten an exit visa or presented my papers to them before leaving town. The DMV knew I'd moved. The Post Office had a forwarding address for me for 12 months. The Danville Courthouse sent me Jury Duty at my new address in Virginia. But the Tax doofuses were too antisocial and incompetent to find out I'd moved. I moved in January 1999. In 2008 I was able to get an updated bill from them that acknowledged I'd moved and only owed a small amount, which I paid. Now it's 2011 and I just got a new bill. Yep, I'm getting a lawyer.
